Keep Your Eyes On The Prize

Do you find yourself missing the old you? Do you ever miss being able to get away with things that you knew weren't right? Have you ever felt like you are missing out on the fun of your past?

When Abram and Lot separated, Lot went back to his old ways of sinning. Whereas, Abram continued to praise and serve God. When the two parted ways Lot was caught in an atmosphere of negativity and unGodly living. He took to his surroundings and did what everyone was doing.

Before I came to God fully, I can remember in high school I was surrounded by all non believers. Although I never got caught up in drugs and alcohol I was still influenced negatively by my peers. I picked up wrongdoings that I tried to hide from the people who wanted the best from me and I did whatever I wanted because everyone else was. Why shouldn't I?
When we are surrounded by people, we tend to pick up what they do.
Therefore, if you are around Christians you'll probably find yourself more in the presence of God. But are you that person that when you are away from Godly people you turn back to your old ways.

Stop looking backwards. Watch where you are walking. Our eyes are on the front of our heads for a reason. Looking back will only drag you down. Start focusing on what is yet to come. Plan for your future and stop dwelling in the past. Surround yourself with people who influence you in a positive way. Stay away from all things that will lead you further from God.
The worse thing a child of God can say is, 'It's only one little sin.' Because is it really? One little sin can turn into a lifetime of sin where you will completely fall away from God. Just like drinking; you can have one drink which will lead to another then another and then to becoming an alcoholic. You can try one drug and then another and later become a drug addict. You might have sex out of marriage once then again and again and forever get comfortable with this great sin! It's a process, some times slow and some times fast. We fall into sin because it started as one little sin. In the same sense, we can fall away from God, one sin at a time.
Keep your eyes on God. You might look back and say to yourself you miss having 'fun' doing whatever made you happy. Always remember doing what makes God happy and serving God will bring you to eternal happiness and life. Obeying God's commands and living for Him will lead you on a straight path to Heaven. It's tough living in a world where Christians are seen as 'Jesus freaks' or people who don't know how to have fun. In reality, we are just preparing ourselves because when our time is over here on Earth, we will enter into the greatest party of our lives.
Will you be there?
