Be The Reason Someone Smiles Today

Image
Today was a great opportunity to practice this life lesson; making others happy. It's so easy to make the people you love and have a really good relationship with happy! But when you are finally at that point in life that you just want to make everyone happy, that's when your true happiness takes place in your life.  I will always say I never thought things would of turned out the way they are turning out for my little family and extended family. I always saw myself, since I had Kye, as a single mother doing this all by myself and being miserable about the situation I was in. It's crazy how different this really is turning out to be. I can easily go over to Kye's father's place to just hang out with his fiance and new baby just like we are all friends. It feels like I just have another group of friends to hang out with. Some times it feels super awkward because that is my ex and my son's father but something happened these past couple of months that ha

Obedience

Has it ever happened in your life when you tried to take control of a situation and it didn't work out the way you wanted to, so you just gave up? How about, have you ever went through a situation where you were in control and you saw it didn't turn out how you wanted it to so you turned to God and He brought you through it with a better overcome that you could have even imagine?! Some times we need this to happen to just show us that we can not do anything unless through Christ first. Simon and the fishermen went out into sea and after a very unsuccessful day at sea, Jesus took them back out and showed them what they could do if only they trusted in Him. (Luke 5) Every selfish person will go through life with disappointments because they think they can have full control over every situation. This was me, and I'm sure it was everyone before they met God. We only wanted to do things our way. Just like a parent teaches their children from right and wrong; a c

Answered Prayers (Two Years In The Making)

Image
This post won't have much to do about scripture it self but it will profess how wonderful my God is! I want to share how God has been working in my life and that His timing is always perfect, even when it feels like He might have forgotten about your prayer. I want to share this to let you know that God is here for you and also so I have this to look back on as a reminder that this life isn't operated by my plans, but God's. These past two months have been life changing for me and my son. We are experiencing so many new things and learning so much about others. I have been praying for 2 years for two certain things; my son's father would be in his life more and for God to bring a Christian man into my life. These were the two things I felt would be the most beneficial for my son and myself. It's so much more important for my son to have his father than it is for me to have a significant other but it's so funny how God had me pray about these two togethe

Seek First The Kingdom Of God

I wanted to share a testimony about my past week. I was struggling financially and wasn't so sure how I was going to be able to make it through the week. I knew I had a couple things that had to get done but I just didn't know how I was going to make that happen. While listening to K-Love one day I heard this quote by Francis Anfuso : 'Do you feel like your prayers aren't being answered? What percentage of prayers initiated by God are answered? 100%! What percentage of prayers initiated by me are answered? None. Hmm? Sounds like there’s a pattern here. The Bible promises, “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.” (1 John 5:14-15) God has already figured out what is best for every part of your life. Trust Him! Stop asking God to do things that are in your heart, and start asking Him to do what’s on Hi

'When You Feel Discouraged'

Image
Discouragement can be handled in one of two ways, good or bad. It can lead to bitterness and resentment or we can respond wisely and learn what lesson God is trying to teach us. Disappointment can lead to us blaming God. When I get disappointed I find that I run back to God for answers and comfort. Some might feel like God isn't listening and want to just give up on Him altogether. In Psalm 23 David looked to The Lord when he needed encouragement. When he felt let down, he didn't ask 'what am I doing to do?' Instead he just turned to The Lord. When I feel let down I always ask myself and God that same question. I wish I could hear God clearly and understand what I might be doing wrong and what I need to be doing. That all ties together with putting all of our trust in God. Believing that He has a reason for this situation.  When we are going through trials, as long as our hearts are in tune with The Lord's we will have peace. ( 'He makes me lie

One Must Wait Until The Sunset...

'Better to have little, with fear for The Lord, than to have great treasure and inner turmoil.' Proverbs 15:16 God has been working hard in my life and giving me new things that are just a little too much  for me to handle on my own . I know His reasons but I don't realize it until what I thought meant a lot to me starts to fade away. When God starts to answer prayer, it's so easy to just stop and enjoy life and let yourself stray away from God. It's like the only time we turn to God is when there is trouble in our life. I have to admit that is me some times. I'm so good with being thankful for what God places in my life, in the beginning, but when it starts to become a regular routine for my life I stop acknowledging what God has blessed me with.  It's better to have a little with God than to have a lot without Him. We might be able to look at other people's lives and see all the worldly success they have but if we realize what we have with Go

Free From Sin

Image
Through baptism, you are made into a new being. The person who was ruled by sin no longer lives because we are now free of sin. By being baptized we died with Christ through His crucifixion and we are raised in His resurrection. We are now one with Christ. We died with Christ so now we will live with and for Him, always. Giving your life over to Christ and accepting Him as your Savior makes you born again. With these two acts in life you are made new, whole and full of grace. Grace is so important because by being under grace we can no longer be under the control of sin. Sin no longer has a hold of us. Grace gives us the relationship with God that we need.  We died to sin once we gave our life over to God. Sin has no authority over us anymore. Of course, we still get tempted by sin but now we have a way out; Christ. We should stay as far away from sin as we can so that we don't fall back into it. Rather, fully give yourself to God. Let Him use you as an instrument and di

By revealing what you're doing, Christ is revealing who He is. John 4 tells the story of the Samaritan woman that Jesus speaks to at the well. I've read this chapter a couple times, but it's like a whole new story when some one else is preaching it. I got a whole new look at it when it was preached this past Sunday.  Jesus keeps trying to get across to this lady, yet she keeps putting up a wall and pushes Him away. It's funny because don't we all do that every now and then? We know what is right for us, but we turn our back to it because we think we know what is better. It's simple to say for myself that I became a true Christian when something personal happened to me. A personal experience that sunk me down deep and left me feeling like I was so alone. With this experience, it just brought me so much more closer to God. He finally started to become really REAL!  In this passage, Jesus tries 3 times to get to this woman but she keeps putting up
