Surrendering




In order to fully surrender to God we need to give our whole heart to Him; giving Him all of our being. Let God know that everything you have is now His. It always has been from the beginning but you need to give Him full control of it now. Stop trying to run your life and let The One who knows you best take control. 
It's so important to keep in prayer. That's one of the most important points of this relationship with God. By keeping in prayer with God it shows that we trust and believe in Him. We trust Him with everything that we bring before Him in prayer. 
We need to 'get rid of our sin' and leave them in the past. Those sin can no longer rule our life. When they were ruling our life the only way it was taking you is further away from God. We need to start living for God and leave our selfish ways behind us by allowing no evil to overtake us.  
By fully surrendering to God, we will be strong and have no fear. Our faith will be so much stronger that we won't have to worry about anything. The things that we used to worry about will now just become a part of our prayer list. By doing this we won't need to dwell on our past troubles. What happened in the past is over and now we have a new relationship with God, so we have a fresh start. Any troubles we may have now in life we can give them over to God by bringing them to Him in prayer. This way giving Him full control again! 'It will be like water flowing away.' (v. 16) It won't even phase us anymore. 
Once we have fully surrendered to God our days will seem so much brighter. Nothing can bring us down because everything will be looking up to God. We have now given everything over to God so we have no more heavy weight on our shoulders. We have nothing to worry or be sad about! We now have hope! We are safe with God who will protect us and won't give us anything we can not handle with out Him by our side. People will begin to see our peace and shine more and want to draw near to us. Just like when people see your faith they will turn to you for prayer when their lives aren't going well. 
Without fully surrendering the only other hope is death. Surrendering to God is so important! Many Christians just live their lives half and half. Half what they know is the right thing to do but still they do what they want to do. When we completely surrender to God we are giving our whole self to Him. We need to make up our minds on who we are going to live for. We serve a jealous God and we need to give Him our all!

The 'Traditional Family'

Tuesday while listening to Greg Laurie, he said something that really hit home and I began to feel sad, upset, hurt and even a little angry. This is what he said and I quote  "The idea of a traditional family seems to be something of the past. So many broken homes today... We have to visit dad and his new wife and we have to visit mom and her new boyfriend and I have all these new step brothers and sisters and the whole thing is sort of...icky. Uncomfortable. Awkward." -Greg Laurie  Well Pastor Greg, you hit that one spot on. Before he made that quote he addressed that there are broken home in the result of divorce. However, to be in that situation he described doesn't always have to be the result of a divorce. Who Are We?

I listened to a sermon on the 4th and I have been trying to put all my thoughts together to write a post about it because it was so meaningful for me. It helped me realize a lot about myself and my faith. I am still trying to get all my ducks in a row for that post but I just wanted to give a little bit of encouragement. It seems like most sermons preached lately are about this craziness but out of that craziness there is a lot to learn! In Exodus 13-16 we read about how Pharaoh finally let the Israelites out of Egypt. All the Isrealites wanted was to be let go and what was one of the first things they did when they got out of Egypt? They complained. They started complaining about how they 'missed' things from Egypt.  Exodus 16:3 says   The Israelites said to them, “If only we had died by the  Lord ’s hand in Egypt!  There we sat around pots of meat and ate all the food  we wanted, but you have brought us out into this desert to starve this entire assembly to death.”
